Who is God: Creator, Ruler, King.
What story is He telling through history and Scripture?
The story is about His rule over His Creation.
It started with the 6 days of creation, which culminated in the creation of mankind made in His image and it was all very good.
Man was given the Creation Mandate: to rule on God’s behalf over this area of His Creation.
- Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over all creatures
- We were to extend God’s righteous rule over all of His very good creation
There was opposition to God’s delegated rule over creation from the beginning from Satan. Opposition was allowed for the greater good, and greater glory.
This led to a fall and an apparent derailment of God’s kingdom plans.
God then set in motion His plan of redemption to restore His fallen creation back to its intended goodness, which started with an expression of a promise (proto-Evangelion).
Creation, Fall, Redemption, Restoration
Most often expressed: Creation, Fall, Redemption, Restoration — or just Creation, Fall, Redemption.
- God created the world, man sinned and fell, Jesus died on the cross, one day will restore everything
Better told as: Kingdom Creation, Fall, Covenant Redemption, Restoration.
- God created us to rule His kingdom creation, man sinned and fell and was cursed, God covenanted with Abraham and Israel to restore blessing through Jesus, He will Return and restore everything
This plan of redemption would be administered through covenants; legal contracts that God would make with man.
God’s story includes the working out of those covenants that supported the plan of redemption in spite of and through opposition.
Those covenants and opposition are colliding in a particular place, among a particular people, and you are not just bystanders, but are both the pawns and the prize of this cosmic battle over the kingdom, the glory of God, and mankind.
Ultimately Jesus, the Son of God will be the victor of this story when He is revealed to the whole world as King of Israel and the Nations and begins His marvelous reign from Jerusalem.
It is the hunger, the desire, and the zeal for this reign from Zion that led to the creation of this ministry. Its mission is to proclaim these truths, and help Christians live faithfully in light of them.
